Which gym do you currently train at? Virgin Active Printworks, Manchester / Body Temple Gym, Rawtenstall
What got you started in bodybuilding? When I was about 8 years old (ish) I went to a bodybuilding show to watch my Uncle – I remember thinking how weird it was that he was up on stage in his undies… I started training in the gym with my Dad when I was about 15, and from here I developed a love for the gym and training hard.
Past or present bodybuilding idol and why? I have so many! Jo Stewart, Gina Aliotti, Valerie Waugaman… Any woman who lives the lifestyle, goes against the odds and looks fantastic.
Where did you place in your very first competition? 2nd
Best bodybuilding achievement?
BNBF 2008 Ms Figure Northern
BNBF British Finals 2008 – Female Best Presentation
Best achievement outside of bodybuilding? Living life to the fullest – being healthy and happy and travelling around the world.
What is your motivation to train and/or compete? I love training and competing just seems to be a natural progression. I am very goal orientated so striving to the best I can be takes me to the stage.

| Train smart – don’t go in the gym and just throw weight around, concentrate on feeling the muscle – muscle-mind connection. Feed your body what it needs to grow and recover, and get plenty of rest. |

What other sport would you have pursued if you didn’t do bodybuilding? I played loads of sports growing up, so perhaps would have chosen one of those to focus my training towards like netball, squash or rugby.
Where can you see yourself in 5 years time inside or outside bodybuilding? I’d love to have my Pro Card and placed Top 3 in a Pro competition.
What is the one piece of advice you would give to someone entering bodybuilding competitively or non-competitively?
Find someone you trust to guide you. You need someone that will be honest with you on how you are looking to get you onto the stage. Take criticism constructively and make sure you are doing it for you and not for someone else. This is a mentally tough sport and it’s a whole lot easier when all your family and friends are behind you 100%.
Make the decision to compete and go for it! You’ll never look back!
Any closing comments? Enjoy training hard and feed your body the fuel it needs to grow and recover. If you put crap in, you’ll get crap out. Don’t let anyone tell you that your dreams are out of reach. And for all the ladies – don’t be afraid to lift weights, you’ll achieve the look you want with weights, not with a cardio machine.
